PUTRE

Redesigning the way you
watch.

We're building a studio from the ground up with people who love stories. Indie films and major studio titles live in one list, curated by people, not an algorithm.

The PUTRE homepage, showing platform, genre, and format filters above curated rows like Weekly Featured, Do You Know You Have 30 Minutes (Shorts), and Bro You Have To Lock In.

What PUTRE is

Less scrolling, more watching.

PUTRE is an ecosystem that connects indie films to the audiences who want them. It looks like a place to find something to watch, and it is, but that's the front door, not the point.

Indie film doesn't have a quality problem, it has a distribution problem. A great short and a Netflix show can be equally good, and only one of them has a marketing budget behind it.

People with proven taste build the lists. A short film sits in the same list as a big studio title, and the only thing that gets either one watched is that someone you trust said it was worth your time. We gatekeep quality, not participation: anyone can make a private list, and becoming a public curator is earned, never bought.

What it does, in three real screens

STEP 1

Find what to watch, across everything you already pay for

Every title links straight to the service that actually has it: Netflix, Hulu, Max, whatever you're already paying for. Found it on your phone but want it on the big screen? Hit Watch on TV and it opens straight there, no re-searching for it once you've picked up the remote. Tell PUTRE which services you pay for and it hides everything you can't watch, then narrow by genre, indie or major studio, festival, or curator. Save it, mark it watched, or drop it into a playlist.

STEP 2

Indie films sit right next to it

Shorts and independent films live in the same library as the major titles, not off in a separate app nobody opens. This one, "Nothing Bad Ever Happens" by Heidi Weitzer, is a real short live on PUTRE today.

STEP 3

Members vote on which indie gets the spotlight

Every month, members vote for their favorite short. The vote decides where the PUTRE Film Fund goes, and no major studio can buy a better spot.

Some say it's the world's best remote. Coming November 1st.

What PUTRE stands for

  • A person's list beats a feed. Taste can't be automated, and we don't pretend it can.
  • Indie is never the smaller option. It sits next to the studio title, at the same size, with the same room to be found.
  • Membership is taste, not charity. Members vote on the Indie of the Month, and that vote decides where the PUTRE Film Fund goes.

Where this goes

Today, PUTRE helps you find something worth watching and puts indie film in front of people who would never have gone looking for it.

Next is a home for original work only: a place where everything on it is something you haven't seen before, picked by people whose taste you already trust.

And this is just the beginning. We're growing into a studio that only makes original stories, one people trust to make them. PUTRE is the entry point.

A note from me

Madison Walser

You're overwhelmed, and so am I. The algorithm feeds you the stories with the biggest ad spends, not the ones you actually want to watch. A handful of companies own most of what you watch, and the stories that get made are the ones they already know will sell. We want original stories.

We also want an easier way to watch than flipping between every platform just to find one thing. So PUTRE puts it all in one list, picked by people, and it's where we start building toward the stories nobody has seen yet.
